if you see a movie as an art..than blade runner is real art!
if you see a movie as entertainment than avatar and co is the right choose….

but blade runner is deep …thats why not everybody enjoys the movie..most people like standard hollywood productions with love storys, standard soundtracks etc.

for me this movie is the best i have ever seen! an artfull masterpiece and this version improved a lot!

Exactly. I thought the pacing was perfect. My only dislike was the dialogue.

Where do you people come from? Jesus christ, it wasnt that bad. I thought it was amazing, and it was worth the money to see in theaters multiple times. It’s fantasy escapism, and it doesn’t pretend to be anything more than what it is. The fact that it wasn’t a complicated story means nothing. It’s just entertainment and a spectacle.

Avatar? The anti-Blade Runner, the first is all special effect,it’s the consumerism, the commerciality, the intellectual void, avatar is all Blade Runner want to accuse,a false world, made of concrete, hypocrite, where matter only the appearance and the loneliness advances of equal footstep to the tecnology, avatar is hypocrisy, money and panders ideas.

Avatar was good , it’s plot was decent but predictable at times , but it is not the best film if 2009 , watchmen and district 9 being better , but blade runner us a master pice , it’s strory is essentialy basic a cop Is looking for escaped replicants , but it’s is brought to life by the depth of the characters , something avatar should realy learn from

    Amen-i agree completely
He will never top ALIENS or Terminator -He peaked as a director with T2 or maybe True Lies-

there is only brief topless scene-its Zhora getting dressed-not sex.The love scene is more suggestive-not explicit
The violence is not very explicit either(euro cut a little bit more)
try those points with your folks-

@rasiak4ever Although I loved Avatar and liked its story, the story was a bit cliched and predictable and some of the dialogue sucked. Thankfully the visuals and the world Cameron created held that up. I really enjoyed it, although older movie buffs hate it due to their prejudices. I wouldn’t call it a perfect movie, but it’s fantastic.

And Micredable, the plot may be a bit cliched, but acting and pacing? Those, and visuals, were the film’s strong points. o_o

REALLY want to see this movie… when I get a better internet connection, is there any place that I could watch it online? Or maybe I’ll just rent the Final Cut DVD… but there’s no way my parents would let me watch a rated R movie due to their bullshit rules. <_<

@deckard97 Don’t forget The Terminator. Forget fancy CGI effects, the stop motion used for the skeletal Terminator looks perfect! (Although its sequel is one place where CGI is used flawlessly)

But yes, I completely agree. The late 70s and all of the 80s were the best time for movies. Ever.

How can you call a movie which so closely follows a well trodden path as far as themes and plot ambitious? Avatar wasn’t even the best movie released in December. As a movie it is a pile of shit. A fantastic showcase of the possibilities of cgi, but everything beyond the eye candy is sub par. Plot, acting, pacing, hell, even Pandora is a huge ripoff or earlier ideas.

There’s ambiguity within the story – Mystical and familiar. That’s what gives this movie longevity. Other films over-explain. This one will always flow like poetry.

    lol, yeah right, avatar

  15. Avatarass 9 February 2010 at 10:38 am #

Avatar sucked ass, Cameron is not as good as he used to be.

  16. Aught3 9 February 2010 at 10:57 am #

Avatar!? lol, at least Blade Runner has a plot.

  17. rasiak4ever 9 February 2010 at 11:24 am #

Great movie – yes. The best ever – no way. This movie is way too weird , not because of its ”complicated” plot , but Scott did not explain and portreit certain things so you did not know what was going on. Movie was not well structured. My all time fav is Avatar because its an example of perfect moviemaking and very ambitious Cameron changed the way we view a movie.Besides its a marvel movie.

@otheus I’m 18 and love this movie. It’s sad that kids don’t have any appreciation for real films now-a-days.

I see a 100×50 pixel video… Welcome to the 21st century. One face equals one pixel…

  20. invincibleironman3 9 February 2010 at 12:34 pm #

Yes, very underrated. I think one of the best films of all-time.

Still makes Dark Knight,The Matrix and Avatar look…boring
This film Along with Star Wars,A L I E N,and Raiders of the lost Ark are THE state of the art

  22. otheus 9 February 2010 at 1:45 pm #

LOL, the Matrix was definitely pretty cool. Go and watch this film, Total Recall, and the Matrix. You’ll notice they added three things: leather, acid rock, and martial arts. (of course, they also did some great special effects too).

  23. otheus 9 February 2010 at 2:44 pm #

I show this to the young’ns of today and they’re like “Hrmph, not bad.” Then I tell them it was made in 1982, and they’re like “God, no way”. Then I show them Star Wars or ET, and they’re like “Wow, that’s so cheesy!”

  24. otheus 9 February 2010 at 3:00 pm #

What “the film that started it all” supposed to mean? Started what?
